Independent Investigations

International organizations are increasingly retaining independent external investigators to examine allegations of harassment, abuse of authority, discrimination, retaliation, conflicts of interest, fraud, and other forms of misconduct. The credibility of these investigations depends not only on thorough fact-finding, but also on the investigator’s independence, impartiality, procedural fairness, and understanding of the legal framework governing international organizations.

Alexandre Tavadian is available to accept appointments as an independent external investigator in matters involving workplace misconduct, including allegations of harassment, abuse of authority, discrimination, retaliation, and other breaches of organizational standards of conduct. His investigations are conducted with strict regard for independence, confidentiality, due process, and respect for the rights of all participants.

Drawing on more than twenty-five years of experience advising international organizations on governance, ethics, disciplinary proceedings, and international administrative law, Alexandre Tavadian understands both the institutional realities faced by organizations and the procedural safeguards required to ensure that investigations are fair, thorough, and legally robust.

His experience advising organizations, representing both organizations and international civil servants in disciplinary and administrative proceedings, and serving on the administrative tribunals and appeals bodies of several international organizations provides a distinctive perspective on the legal and procedural issues that frequently arise during workplace investigations.

Investigations may include:

Harassment and sexual harassment

Abuse of authority

Discrimination

Retaliation and whistleblower complaints

Conflicts of interest

Workplace misconduct

Violations of codes of conduct and ethics policies

Other allegations requiring independent fact-finding

Where appropriate, Alexandre Tavadian can also prepare investigation reports, advise organizations on procedural fairness and due process, and provide recommendations designed to strengthen institutional governance and accountability.

Every investigation is conducted with respect for confidentiality, independence, procedural fairness, and the rights of all participants. The objective is to establish the facts through a fair and transparent process that enables organizations to make informed and defensible decisions.
